BIFSC AWARDS
Sound Design Competition
2025
WINNERS & FINALISTS
Thierry Braemer, France
First Prize Winner 2025
French-born and partly raised abroad, I finished my sound engineering studies in 2002 in Paris.
I had the pleasure to work on short films, TV and Radio commercials, movie trailers for TV, documentaries and occasionally feature films. First, I worked as a sound designer, music illustrator, and voice director, and then primarily as a mixer for the last decade.
Starting with the early passion for sound design, I now try to look beyond sound effects with one goal in mind: finding ways to make sound a real storytelling component on any project I’m hired for as a freelancer.
BIFSC Awards offers a unique challenging competition that gave me my first shot at animation. And I am deeply grateful for this opportunity, and distinction.

1st Prize Winner Thierry Braemer
Giuseppe Occhionero, ITALY
Second Prize Winner 2025
Giuseppe Occhionero, born in 1994 in Molise, Italy, is a sound designer, producer and guitarist whose creative journey has been guided by music since childhood. Picking up the guitar at the age of eleven, he found in rock and metal the raw energy that first shaped his artistic identity. Over time, his passion evolved beyond specific genres, leading him to explore the boundless landscapes of electronic and digital sound.
In 2016, Giuseppe moved to Bologna to pursue studies in Music Production, where he refined his technical and compositional approach. Three years later, in Naples, he further expanded his expertise through a Sound Design program, deepening his understanding of the relationship between sound, emotion, and technology.
Fascinated by every dimension of the auditory world, from music and sound effects to immersive experiences and video games, Giuseppe views sound as a living art form, capable of shaping stories and emotions.
Under the artistic name “Joey Blackeye,” he launched an experimental music project that bridges the gap between drum and bass and live instrumental performance, blending organic energy with digital innovation.
“I am honored to have participated in the BIFSC Competition and to have been among the winners. It was a wonderful experience that motivated me to grow and challenge myself. I congratulate BIFSC and all the participants, who create amazing work every year. I believe that the opportunity to experience different artistic perspectives on the same images is truly wonderful and inspiring”

Yohan Shin, Korea
Third Prize Winner 2025
Yohan Shin, born in 1998, is a South Korean sound designer and producer who works under the artistic name “Sinyo.”
Specializing in animation and commercial sound, Yohan explores the emotional and rhythmic potential of sound to enhance storytelling. In his creative process, he focused on the texture and direction of sound, carefully shaping it to reflect the emotions of each character while maintaining a subtle musical rhythm throughout the design.
For the BIFSC competition, Yohan aimed to create an immersive sonic environment that highlights the connection between space, emotion, and rhythm, allowing the audience to feel the world through the character’s perspective.
Participating in the BIFSC was an inspiring experience that encouraged him to push the boundaries between sound design and music, and he is deeply grateful for the recognition and opportunity to share his work on an international stage.
